Chryste Gaines

Chryste Gaines is a graduate of Dallas South Oak Cliff High School where she was a 5A State Champion in the 4 x 100m relay and twice the champion in the 200m dash. She matriculated to Stanford University where she was the 3 time PAC - 10 100m champion and selected as Athlete of the Decade. She was an NCAA Champion in the 60m dash as well as the 100m dash. She won the World University Games in the 100 and the 4 x 100m relay in Sheffield England. After graduating from Stanford she qualified for her first Olympic Team in 1992. She went on to win 3 World Championship titles in the 4 x 100m relay. She was the lead off leg for the 1996 Olympic 4 x 100m relay who won the gold and set an Olympic record. In her final Olympic Games in 2000, in Sydney, Australia, she was a finalist in the 100m and got the Bronze medal in the 4 x 100m relay.
